Dr. Bjørn Grønning
As Chief Medical Officer and member of the Executive Management Team, Dr. Bjørn Grønning is responsible for HMNC Brain Health’s global clinical development strategy and medical affairs activities. He leads the advancement of the Company’s neuroscience pipeline, including Ketabon (KET01), an oral prolonged-release ketamine formulation for treatment-resistant depression, and Nelivabon (BH-200), a first-in-class vasopressin V1b receptor antagonist being developed as a biomarker-guided precision therapy for depressive disorders.
Dr. Grønning is a physician and pharmaceutical executive with more than 20 years of experience in clinical research and drug development across all stages of development, from Phase 1 through Phase 3 and beyond. He has extensive expertise in the development of therapies for central nervous system disorders, including depression, schizophrenia, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, migraine, post-traumatic stress disorder, and rare neurological conditions. Throughout his career, he has led global development organizations and multidisciplinary teams responsible for advancing innovative therapies from early clinical development through regulatory interactions and late-stage clinical programs.
Prior to joining HMNC Brain Health, Dr. Grønning served as Vice President and Head of Therapeutic Areas, Global Clinical Development at Lundbeck, where he oversaw clinical development activities across multiple neuroscience programs and therapeutic areas. During his tenure at Lundbeck, he held several senior leadership positions with responsibility for global clinical development, research support, business development activities, and interactions with regulatory authorities, including the FDA and EMA. Earlier in his career, he held clinical development leadership roles at Novo Nordisk and Ferring Pharmaceuticals.
Before entering the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Grønning pursued an academic and clinical career in cardiology and internal medicine at the University of Glasgow and Copenhagen University Hospitals. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications and remains recognized for his contributions to clinical research and medical innovation. Dr. Grønning received his medical degree from the University of Copenhagen and completed the MMPI Diploma in Managing Medical Product Innovation at the Scandinavian International Management Institute. He is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC).
